StartTunnel - Virtual Private Router (VPR)

When reading some setup docs for VPS and Datum I ran across StartTunnel. Note: The video associated with the documentation is private on Satashi21 YT channel.

I initially setup Braiins to send hash directly to my Datum gateway by exposing my IP by opening a port on my router.. It worked well for a short period of time but then Brainns canceled the bid due to many errors. I think my IP changed on my service providers equipment.

Question. Would I need Start9’s new OS (in beta still) in order to incorporate a VPS and StartTunnel and point it at my own node?

Yes, I think you need the new Networking features in 0.4.0 to set up the gateway. There is probably a way to set it up from the command line over SSH, but that would be more technically challenging I imagine (though might be worth exploring if you aren’t comfortable with switching to beta software)
