I’m having ocean lightning payout errors lately.
It says:
Latest lightning error: Unknown payout error, contact lightning@ocean.xyz
Raw error: cln err code: 205 - message Failed: Could not find route without excessive cost
It’s been failing like a week or even longer, it worked nicely before these errors for a couple weeks.
I have only one channel open (PaulsCode LND). Normal invoices go through nicely(in and out).
I have restarted my umbrel node, core lightning and resynced gossip data also.
I would just give it some time.
The channels that the payment travels through to get to PaulsCode LND could be offline.
Or have changed their fees.
Ocean will keep trying to send payment daily.
Don’t worry. Ocean still has your wallet address.
Worst case… If the whole lightning network fails. Ocean will let your Sats accumulate to a larger amount and send them to the wallet address that you originally entered into Ocean’s website.
I have had this problem before.
It usually corrects itself in a day or two.
If a week goes by, then think about contacting Ocean.
Also, check out 1ML.com to identify “most connected nodes” and think about opening another channel with one of the really big ones.
It will tie up more Sats to get the channel started.
But, once you have a channel with one of the big nodes. Then everything just works…
As my fellow Coloradan @Living.in.Debasement says just give it a little time. I do remember Pauls LND node is a bit expensive but that shouldn’t be a huge problem but another channel would not hurt but if you go that route consider LND and CLN in combination…much easier to manage channels from Ride the Lighting/LND. Maybe consider adding MegaLithic me(small channels) into the route.
BTW - this is the first time I have seen Could not find route without excessive cost.
Interestingly, in my setup, all of my payouts from Ocean also travel through PaulsCode LND, and I have not gotten this error. Do you have your Core Lightning node connected directly to PaulsCode LND, or does it route through an LND node on your server first?
