Microsoft Purchases All Linux distros

The plan is to merge Windows and Linux over time and move to a licensing service and phase out command line interaction by 2028. Having converted away from Microsoft to Linux in order to get away from Epsteinsoft products I am very concerned. Where do I move to next?

This looks like fake news. Besides not finding any official resources to back this up, I don’t even think the claim is technically possible. Debian is not a normal company that Microsoft could simply buy in the way it bought GitHub. Debian’s Constitution states “The Debian Project is an association of individuals,” and Debian’s history documentation describes it as a major Linux distribution that is “not a commercial entity”. Debian’s trademark is owned by Software in the Public Interest (SPI), a nonprofit that holds assets in trust for Debian.

Besides that, some of the secondary claims are ridiculous on their face – “phase out all command line interaction” – like how exactly, and why? And “Winbuntu” … ?
