Knots 29.4 8-05-2026 BIP 110 Blocks

You shouldn’t need to install my electrs fork (one fewer thing to worry about). I tested Retropex’s mempool with the normal Start9 electrs (Stopped), and it works on my test server despite the warning.

so you think i should redownload the test server ? right now i just have the updated and synced knots, datum, and mempool but im still not reporting hash. your reg test apps worked like a charm tbh. as long as im not orphaning blocks ill be happy to be honest

No, I meant my server (the computer itself) is my test server (i.e. I use it to test stuff) – it is running on mainnet.

Summary: I have these installed and running (on mainnet):

Retropex’s Bitcoin Knots
Retropex’s Datum Gateway

I have this installed and Stopped
Start9’s electrs

Then I installed and configured (with electrs selected for the indexer):
Retropex’s Mempool

Then Start “Mempool Guide” (that’s how it shows up in the services list). Give it a couple minutes, then launch the UI. Wait a few more minutes for the cache to start. Once the blocks stop animating, check if it is showing blake2b blocks (meaning it is syncing the new chain) or if it is stuck on the newspaper blocks from the BIP-110 chain.

mempool has been working and synced for me for a while now. even though my electr has not been running properly since updating knots today

i wish i didnt have to ask so many questions im just not very technical

Perfect. Then the next likely culpret is the configuration on the ASIC itself. Double check that you have entered the correct IP address and the correct port (those would be the most likely mistakes)

i used this one just like in the tutorial you posted

Ok, and you captured it from Retropex’s Datum Gateway (not from my Datum Gateway), correct?

Next thing to check is Datum Gateway > Dashboard > Health Checks > Number of Stratum Clients Connected. This should show 1 client is connected.

Ok, I see one difference in the Interfaces section on Retropex’s Datum Gateway. He doesn’t add the “stratum+tcp://” to the beginning of the local IPv4 stratum interface (he just starts with the IP address). Some ASICs require this at the beginning, so you might check if adding it helps.

connors lab going quiet on the blake2b mining setup guides to try get as many coins for himself at the beginning

@001 I’ve noticed the same from the most vocal blake2b voices. Either it’s not ready yet or pre-mine going on.

Yeah! Always a funny pre-mine thing going on. It was supposed to be live from tomorrow only.

Paul: One quick Q: I am still running Knots 29.3 on my Windows 10 PC but it is not even synced to the IBD yet, Block 878779, Jan. 11th 2025, @12:31. However, Unkown Syncing headers are stuck at Block 962738. It figures, it’s has stalled, no Blake2b fork there! How do I get Knots either v. 29.4 or v. 29.3 updated to fork off into the Blake2b hard-fork? BTW: on Start9 (I have both versions 3.5.1 and 0.4.0.1 running on different mini PCs, Server Pure and HP mini PC so that I don’t lose the Sparrow Eletrs links. Today, this morning the Sparrow links both failed via My Start9s until I managed to get the Electrs from v. 0.4.0.1 going but on Knots Pre-RDTS, otherwise I can’t see my BTC on Sparrow and I could lose track of that if I go whole-hog on Blake2b. So, how do I keep both chains going till we can move our coins? And then there is the OP-ReTURN business, how do we do that properly, as Matt mentioned in his hurried last video on YT? He ought to tell us precisely and slowly before us Maxies burn our “life-savings” as mentotred by him initially. WE know these things happen. I only got into BTC in 2022/2023 but heck, Matt was raving about Coldcard, Blockstream Jade and so on. Now we are left to sort ourselves out on our own, non-techie selves. Pleaswe advise or make a nice explanatory video for ppl who hold the original bitcoin and want to swap (as the time comes to cash-in/take profits) onto B2B. Many thanks for your expertise! You are ther only one that does slow tutorials that we can understand! Even Ben (BTC Sovereigh Sessions goes too fast) and he is not a Blake2b, we see! Cheers, mate! Rui and Mary

Yeah! Fast moves and fast talker on YT. I can’t follow that fast. Old guys here! LOL But I am here for the Real Satoshi Nakamoto bitcoin two!

Paul: I received this ERROR msg on Start9 v 0.4.0.1 from installing (trying) your blake2b Knots companion?

Aug 31, 2026, 3:20 PM Installing Failed knots-blake2b Invalid Signature: hash sum mismatch

Did you get that error from my custom Start9 registry, or when side-loading? I’ll try to recreate the issue here.

I got the Retropex mempool and shows the current blocks vs mempool.guide, but it doesn’t populate the miner tag. Is that normal?

Yes, I see that as well. It may be a bug in Retropex’s fork (though I’m still syncing my fork, so mine may have the same problem once it is finished, haha)

I got it from your registry!

Is it safe to switch to this Bitcoin Knots below: without losing track of my BTC on mainchain (coretards) and my Electrs connected Sparrow on Start9?
