I listened to Michael Saylor on Dr Jordan Peterson’s podcast and I wonder what you all think about his take:
In his discussions he basically said to think of Bitcoin (the protocol) as a monetary virus.
The network is a bank in cyber space protected by public and private key cryptography. We don’t trust government, we don’t trust a local bank and we don’t trust each other.”
Ok, fair enough. So who’s going to run the software for this “bank" if we don’t trust anyone?
Everyone is going to run the software. The Node operators.
Ok but how is the network protected?
The Miner: Defends the network
Now…explaining Bitcoin to people my age (or younger) about Bitcoin usually just baffles their minds and when you use the word “virus”. OMG! Run for the hills. Don’t click that what ever you do Mom! It’s going to install a virus on your computer (That’s me telling my Mom to quit clicking random stuff. I’ve rescued her system 4 times and finally replaced it in the last 5 years) She learnt the hard way.
So what you think. If you were trying to explain to someone what Bitcoin is would you use the word virus?
